Did Jogo Kill Nanami in JJK?

The 15th episode of the second season began with a fight between the reincarnated Toji Fushiguro and Dagon. Toji rescued his son Megumi, Nanami, Maki, and Naobito Zenin from a severely disadvantageous situation. Toji then took Megumi alone to confront him. Jogo, one of the special grade cursed spirits, suddenly appeared and observed the remains of Dagon, who had just been ruthlessly killed by Toji.

Before sorcerers could process the sudden appearance, Jogo swiftly approached Nanami and incinerated him. Nanami was already severely injured from battling Dagon. Upon realizing the situation, Maki became the next target of Jogo’s flames.

Now, only Naobito Zenin remains. He attempts to use Projection Sorcery against Jogo, but the more powerful curse swiftly overcomes him. Like Maki and Nanami, Naobito meets the same fate, roasted to death as depicted in the anime.

Jogo burned the already weakened Nanami. But did Jogo kill Nanami with his attack? If you want to learn who survives after these events, read on. Be warned, the following explanation contains huge spoilers!

Is Nanami Dead or Alive?

Nanami's Fate in Jujutsu Kaisen: Alive or Dead?

If you’re here, you must truly want to know the outcome of Jogo’s attack on Nanami, right? More than that, you want to know if Nanami survived that fatal blow. I understand that feeling because it was the same for me when I was reading the manga.

The truth is Nanami survived the incineration attack despite being weakened. His endurance levels are remarkable! Additionally, Maki survives the attack but loses half of her face, like Nanami. The only casualty is Naobita Zenin, confirmed killed by Jogo.

These events unfold in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. So, to answer your question, Nanami is alive for now, though in bad shape.

The true question regarding Nanami’s survival amidst the Shibuya incident lingers. How will he navigate this dire situation? Will he persevere? If you seek answers, proceed cautiously to the following section.

Will Nanami Die?

Nanami’s precarious state is evident. His scarred visage evokes comparisons to Harvey Dent (Two-Face) from Batman, yet he endures.

Skipping ahead to manga chapter 120, Nanami passes through Shibuya station in a weakened state. It seemed he had resigned himself to death, persisting in his search for Megumi while fretting over his comrades. Whether it was fate or chance, Nanami found himself in an unfortunate situation as Mahito spotted the vulnerable sorcerer. Having narrowly avoided one fatal attack, Nanami now faced a horde of transfigured humans as his next trial.

Even at the brink of death, Nanami obliterated every enemy. However, death soon confronted him again. This time, Mahito did not hold back, as taking out Nanami would be a huge victory. During the climactic final stage, between 11:14 PM to 11:36 PM at Shibuya Station, after a pep talk with Mahito, Nanami knew it was the end. That’s why Nanami told Yuji (who just arrived) that he had it from here.

Mahito, in close proximity to Nanami’s torso, swiftly employed Idle Transfiguration, contorting his body and resulting in his demise. Thus, Nanami Kento met his end in Jujutsu Kaisen. His unexpected death, followed by Nobara’s, rendered this arc a melancholic experience for manga readers.

This summarizes Nanami Kento’s fate in Jujutsu Kaisen, a devastating blow for fans. However, JJK author Gege Akutami is known for tugging at our heartstrings, as seen in the recent Sukuna vs Gojo battle. What are your thoughts on this incident? Should Nanami have survived, particularly with Gojo sealed in the Prison Realm? Share your opinions in the comments below.
