Motorola One Power, unveiled at IFA 2018, has recently arrived in India at a price well-suited to the mid-range market. Priced at Rs 15,999, it sits just above the highly sought-after Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro, boasting a larger battery, superior cameras, and a modern design. While these features enhance its appeal, does the overall package cater to those prioritizing performance? Let’s delve into it.
The Motorola One Power features a Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM, a common configuration found in popular phones like the Nokia 6.1 Plus, Redmi Note 5 Pro, and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. It’s evident that Motorola opted for this setup to attract existing users with a more futuristic design and extended battery life, ensuring prolonged usage and entertainment.

Motorola One Power Daily and Gaming Performance
Day-to-day usage shows no observable lag or glitch thanks to the bloat-free Android One experience. Motorola One Power runs Android Oreo 8.1, with the company pledging an Android Pie update by year’s end, initiating soak tests later this month. The sole noticeable lag occurs when unlocking the smartphone with the fingerprint sensor while the display is off, likely due to a wake animation. Motorola expresses confidence in resolving this issue.
Regarding gaming, I’ve played many mediocre and under-rated games due to the One Power’s limited performance with demanding titles like Asphalt 9 and PUBG, the latter restricted to Medium graphics. Although playable, the graphics quality doesn’t match slightly pricier devices like the Mi A2 or Poco F1.
However, I had no issues playing games like SBK16, Dead Trigger 2, Guns of Boom, War Wings, and Nitro Nation 6. Additionally, the optimized notch ensures symmetrical display areas above and below, unlike the Poco F1, whose notch remains intrusive despite the MIUI 10 beta update.
The Motorola One Power boasts a mono speaker at the bottom, capable of filling a closed room with sound or meeting outdoor volume needs.
Additionally, HD playback support on Netflix and other OTT apps enhances the device’s entertainment capabilities.
Regarding performance, the stock Android experience remains on par with competitors such as the Mi A2 and the newly announced Realme 2 Pro. However, these alternatives offer superior graphics quality.
