Since the thrilling finale of the TLOU series, Max promptly greenlit season 2 due to soaring viewership after just two episodes. With production now underway, the question remains: when will season 2 premiere? Fortunately, the production staff recently provided an update on its status.

During an interview with Variety, Casey Bloys (Max CEO) revealed a crucial detail about the upcoming production. He anticipates season 2’s production to commence in February 2024. If all proceeds as planned, we can expect season 2 of The Last of Us by early to mid-2025.

Note that this is the tentative release date for The Last of Us season 2. We’ll provide updates once an official announcement is made.

Season 2 of TLOU will diverge significantly from the first season with a five-year time skip. Expect a dark, gritty tale set in post-apocalyptic United States. Without spoilers, here’s the anticipated plot:

Ellie embarks on a retaliation mission to hunt down Abby and her faction in the abandoned suburbs of Seattle.
