Understanding Fade in Valorant
Introducing Fade: The New Initiator Agent
Fade joins Valorant as an initiator, much like Sova, Skye, Breach, and Kay/O, with unique abilities to reveal, tag, and near-sight enemies. According to the game’s lore, she hails from Turkey and taps into her enemy’s fears. Watch the reveal video of Fade attached below.
Fade: Abilities and Ultimate
Fade’s abilities suit an initiator agent, combining aspects of Breach, Sova, and Skye. She can reveal nearby enemies, mark them with a trail, reduce their health points (HP), and near-sight them. Watch the official gameplay reveal video of Fade before delving into the details of her abilities below.
Haunt (E)
Starting with the primary ability, Haunt allows Fade to reveal nearby enemies hiding in corners for herself and her teammates, akin to Sova’s Recon Dart. However, Haunt tags enemies only once after revealing, unlike Sova’s ability. The tag leaves a trail that Fade or her teammates can follow to locate the enemies, lasting for a few seconds before deactivation.
Players can equip the ability with E and then throw it at a specific point by pressing the fire button (left mouse click). While the Haunt orb is airborne, they can press E again to release it earlier. Notably, enemies can destroy the ability by firing at it.
Seize (Q)
Regarding the second ability, Seize functions as a binding ability, preventing enemies from escaping. Fade launches “an orb of nightmare ink” that explodes upon impact with the ground, creating a circular zone. Enemies within this zone are marked with a trail and unable to leave until the effect dissipates. Additionally, their health is reduced to 75 HP, and they are temporarily deafened.
Players activate the ability with the Q button and throw it by pressing the fire button. Similar to the Haunt ability, they can prematurely drop the Seize orb by pressing Q again while it’s airborne.
Prowler (C)
The Prowler ability equips Fade with a pack of hunting creatures akin to Skye’s Tasmanian tiger, which can be utilized to track and pursue nearby enemies. Upon being struck by a prowler, enemies experience nearsightedness, mirroring the effect of Omen’s flash.
Upon deployment, players can manipulate prowlers by holding down the fire button to direct their movements. When a prowler detects an enemy, releasing the fire button triggers automatic engagement. Additionally, if an enemy is marked by any aforementioned abilities or the ultimate ability, prowlers can autonomously pursue the target.
Fade can deploy up to two prowlers per round, though enemies have the capability to destroy them with firearms before they induce nearsightedness.
Nightfall (X – Ultimate)
Last, Fade’s ultimate ability, Nightfall, mirrors Breach’s Rolling Thunder in site coverage. Instead of concussing enemies, those caught in Fade’s ultimate become near-sighted, marked with a trail, and lose 75 HP temporarily.
Afterward, players can combine Fade’s other abilities to disable enemies completely, facilitating clearing a site for taking or retaking post-spike plant.
These encompass all of Fade’s abilities, elucidated in detail. Proceed to the subsequent section to maximize their utility.
Fade Gameplay: Tips and Tricks
Fade excels as an attacking/initiator agent, adept at clearing tough corners and blocking enemy entry to sites. Her abilities track foes, impairing their sight and compelling retreat, facilitating allied control of areas.
Additionally, Fade proves formidable on offense, capable of single-handedly pushing and securing a site. Refer to my attached demo gameplay video featuring Fade for insights into maximizing her abilities.
However, it’s essential to recognize that the showcased gameplay serves demonstration purposes only. In competitive matches, creativity in utilizing Fade’s abilities is paramount for optimal performance.
