Dimensity 1200: Specifications
Both Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 are octa-core chipsets utilizing TSMC’s 6nm architecture, featuring an integrated 5G modem, and more. Let’s delve into the specifics of Dimensity 1200.
The MediaTek chipset features a 1+3+4 CPU arrangement. It comprises a lone Cortex-A78 ultra-core running at 3GHz, three Cortex-A78 super cores at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2GHz. In contrast to the Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100, MediaTek has omitted the stronger ARM Cortex-X1 core from the Dimensity 1200.
The CPU pairs with a nine-core ARM Mali-G77 MP9, identical to its predecessor, the Dimensity 1000-series chipset. It’s disappointing that MediaTek reused the same GPU in its 2021 flagship chipsets. Surprisingly, the Dimensity 1200 and 1100 “support ray tracing in mobile games and artificial reality applications,” according to the official blog post. Additionally, there’s a hexa-core AI processor (MediaTek APU 3.0), offering 12.5% more performance than previous-gen chipsets.
The chipset integrates the Helio M70 5G modem, along with numerous MediaTek 5G technologies. It supports True Dual SIM 5G (5G SA + 5G SA), carrier aggregation, SA/NSA modes, and Voice over New Radio (VoNR). Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 are also supported.
Regarding display and camera capability, MediaTek boasts the highest refresh rate support ever seen on a mobile chipset. Dimensity 1200 can handle Full-HD+ displays @ 168Hz and QHD+ displays at 90Hz. The chipset features a five-core HDR ISP as well, enabling support for up to 200MP photo capture, 4K HDR video capture, and more. Phones with this chipset can feature up to 32MP+16MP dual-cameras.
Dimensity 1100: Specifications
As for the lower-specced Dimensity 1100, it’s also an octa-core chipset based on TSMC’s 6nm architecture. MediaTek follows a 4+4 CPU arrangement on this chipset, unlike the 1+3+4 arrangement seen in Dimensity 1200. It’s akin to last year’s Dimensity 1000+ SoC but utilizes the more power-efficient ARM Cortex-A78 cores instead of Cortex-A77 cores.
Dimensity 1100 features four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 2GHz, along with a nine-core Mali-G77 GPU, Helio M70 5G modem, and hexa-core AI processor (APU 3.0), matching its elder sibling. However, its camera and display capabilities differ. It supports up to 108MP single camera (or 32MP+16MP dual-camera), up to 4K @ 60FPS video capture, and up to 144Hz Full-HD+ displays.
